Turkmenian Eagle Owl

Scientific Name: Bubo turcomanus
Distribution: Eastern Europe, Central Asia
Weight: 1500-4200g

The Turkmenian eagle owl has prominent ear tufts and vivid orange eyes.

Although they usually hunt smaller mammals they can catch animals the size of a fox or small deer, the owl relies on the crushing power and sharp talons of its feet, which are capable of crushing with over 200 pounds of pressure per square inch!

They scrape out a nest at the bottom of an old tree or rock crevice, the female then incubates the eggs alone.
